One morning, feeling utterly spoiled, I ordered a fruit platter. It arrived. The fruit was lovely, a rainbow of colours and it was perfect! They asked what I needed, they told me to call if I need anything. The only thing was that the knives? The knives were gone. I swear! No knife. I was completely unequipped to consume this lavish feast of deliciousness. I called. They sent a knife. Perfect. But then – oh! My god! – the knife was a butter knife. A butter knife. I stared at it, I stared at the papaya, and I just slowly lost my mind. Trying to eat a mango with a butter knife felt like some sort of existential joke. Day 1: Arrival and the Great Pool Panic
